What should I pack for a 2 week trip to New York?

I’m going to New York City from August 1st-15.

I’ll be doing lots of walking and sight-seeing, and probably a go to a play or two. I don’t want to take a huge, heavy bag and would like to get different outfits from a few basics.

Any suggestions?

Take some a couple pairs of shorts, a pair of capris, a pair of dressy jeans, and a skirt. For tops, stick with basic t-shirts and tank tops, with one or two dressier tops for plays or dinners out. Add sneakers and a pair of ballet flats or strappy sandals (not flip-flops). As far as colors go, make sure that everything you pack can go with more than one other item. The colors should be neutral and coordinating. Most hotels will have guest laundry facilities.

Where is a good sight seeing spot in upstate New York?

I want to be in quiet, nature setting away from manhattan to relax for a weekend.

The Adirondacks would be perfect. There are places to camp, mountains to hike, and the Adirondack museum is fun to see as well. Up by Lake Placid also there are plenty of places to do the same sort of thing and in the same area. If you want to go even farther away than that you could travel up to Alexandria Bay to see Boldt Castle or you could go to Niagara Falls. There are so many places in New York State outside of NYC.

What are the most important sights to see in New York City?

My family and I are going this summer and want to see everything important, but it has to be a cost effective trip. any suggestions from previous tourists or people who live there would be great!
:)
I agree with the above except for one thing. Yes Times Square is crucial, but see it at night. It’s a must see at night.

How much spending money should o take to New York for 2 weeks?

i am wanting to go to New york and preferably stay in the centre of it where all the sops are and where i can sight see. Everything a tourist can o in New-York. I need to know how much spending money i should take as a rough guide. Thanks

More than $500, America has only the best shops and so you are going to be spending a lot while you’re there, if you can, bring $1500, or more, but don’t stress, there are a few cheaper shops, it depends if you want to shop for designer clothes or not.

Chocolat

Chocolat

We came on the wind of the carnival. A warm wind for February, laden with the hot greasy scents of frying pancakes and sausages and powdery-sweet waffles cooked on the hot plate right there by the roadside, with the confetti sleeting down collars and cuffs and rolling in the gutters like an idiot antidote to winter. There is a febrile excitement in the crowds that line the narrow main street, necks craning to catch sight of the crepe-coveredcharwith its trailing ribbons and paper rosettes. Anouk watches, eyes wide, a yellow balloon in one hand and a toy trumpet in the other, from between a shopping basket and a sad brown dog. We have seen carnivals before, she and I; a procession of two hundred and fifty of the decoratedcharsin Paris last Mardi Gras, a hundred and eighty in New York, two dozen marching bands in Vienna, clowns on stilts, theGrosses Teteswith their lolling papier-mache heads, drum majorettes with batons spinning and sparkling. But at six the world retains a special luste

Lions Clubs Fight Vision Problems

Vision care may no longer be something people view as a luxury. A tractor-trailer loaded with used eyeglasses, sunglasses, and prescription eyeglasses was recently shipped by the 55 Lions Clubs of Western New York for Luxottica’s “Gift of Sight” and the Lions Clubs “Fight for Sight” programs. Drop boxes are located through-out the area for people to drop off eye glasses they no longer want or need.

The Luxottica promotion will fix, cleanse, sanitize, and grade the frames with lenses and then distribute eyewear to people all over the world who cannot afford corrective eyeglass frames and to people who do not have access to eyeglasses. Many of the eyeglasses that were collected will go to places in Central America, South America, and the Carribean.

It is estimated that over 100,000 pairs of used eyeglasses that were collected this year were shipped to the Port Washington plant to be redistributed for charity. After being computer catalogued, the glasses are packaged for shipment and sent off to the far corners of the world. Helping to collaborate with the delivery of the eye glasses were the Southside Trailer Service and the Yellow Freight Corporation.

Around the world, millions of people in under-developed countries go without the ability to see due to lack of proper health-care and lack of funds to pay for new eyeglasses. On occasion, doctors and opticians volunteer to travel to far off places in the world to provide free eye exams to people who previously did not have access to doctors. Many of them personally distribute the eye glasses as well.

Quite a few of the people receiving the glasses are unable to attend school and can barely read a book. Many have problems seeing their own children - so vision care becomes a luxury for most of them- not a necessity. The sight program was officially adopted in 1994 by the Lions Clubs but Lions have been collecting eyeglasses for donation for more than 80 years.

Along with the sight programs, the Lions Clubs also initiated the SightFirst grant program which helps fight preventable and reversible blindness through building clinics and hospitals and the training of doctors, nurses and various other healthcare workers. It also distributes medicine and raises awareness of various eye diseases. The SightFirst program helps elimiate diseases like glaucoma, catarac, river blindness, and trachoma in places all over the world but especially in the United States - a developed country. Vision problems, especially in children, can lead to learning disabilities, delayed development, and, in some cases, juvenile delinquency. Senior citizens with vision problems or vision loss are left feeling out of control and unable to function in daily life.

Collection boxes for eyeglasses are located through-out Western New York but some of the more stand-out locations are: Brocton Village Hall, Clark & Whipple Law Offices, Community Bank on Vinyard Drive and downtown Dunkirk, Grandma’s Kitchen, HSBC Bank, Inner Lakes Federal Credit Union, Lake Shore Savings, Key Bank, M&T in Fredonia, Quality Market in D&F Plaza, Wal-Mart, and Tops Pharmacy.
