Us Airways (flight 1549) plane crashes into Hudson River in New York

US Airways Flight 1549 took off grom Laguardia airport at 3:26 p.m. It was less than a minute later when the pilot reported a “double bird strike” and said he needed to return to LaGuardia
Returning to LaGuardia, he quickly realized, was out. So was nearby Teterboro Airport, where he had never flown before, and which would require him to take the jet over densely populated northern New Jersey.
The co-pilot kept trying to restart the engines, while checking off emergency landing procedures on a three-page list that the crew normally begins at 35,000 feet.
Capt.Sullenberger guided the gliding jet over the George Washington Bridge and looked for a place to land.
With both engines out, a cool-headed pilot maneuvered his crowded jetliner over New York City and ditched it in the frigid Hudson River saved the all 155 people on board.

New video from coast guard that report the US Airway crash in Hudson River.
Airplane crash-lands into Hudson River; all aboard reported safe.
A US Airways plane with more than 150 people aboard went down in the Hudson River on Thursday after taking off from LaGuardia Airport, and everyone aboard got off the plane alive, officials said.
Flight 1549, headed to Charlotte, North Carolina, may have experienced a bird strike, according to FAA spokeswoman Laura Brown.

Passenger Alberto Pinero said that within a couple minutes after takeoff, “you just heard a loud bang and the plane shook a bit.”

Passengers could smell smoke, and “the plane just started turning. … We knew something was going on, ’cause look, we were turning back,” he said.
“Somehow, the plane stayed afloat and we were all able to get on a raft,” Pinero said. “It’s just incredible now that everyone’s still alive.”

The plane had 148 passengers, Brown said, and either five or six crew members on board when it took off at 3:26 p.m. It was airborne for less than three minutes, she said.

Everyone on board exited the Airbus A320, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

A cool-headed pilot maneuvered his crippled jetliner over New York City and ditched it in the frigid Hudson River on Thursday, and all 155 on board were pulled to safety as the plane slowly sank. It was, the governor said, “a miracle on the Hudson.”

One victim suffered two broken legs, a paramedic said, but there were no other reports of serious injuries.

A shocking tragedy indeed.

A newly public video shows the moment of impact between the small plane and tourist helicopter that collided over the Hudson River in New York last weekend, killing nine.

The accident was caught on video Saturday by an Italian tourist who was practicing with a new camera.

May God and his host soothe the families of their grief. so sad.

New York Plane Crash Flight Instructor Tyler Stanger Memory

Tyler Chase Stanger was the the flight instructor of the New York plane crash with Cory Lidle.

It deeply dissappointed me when I typed in “Cory Lidle” and hundreds of tribute dedication videos came up. Yet when I typed in “Tyler Stanger”, my search beared no results. :(

This video is dedicated to him, his wife, Stephanie(my sister), his daughter, Ashlund, his son, Powell, and his mourning family.

If you would like to find out more information on Tyler Stanger, go to http://stangers.us/

Don’t worry, no pop-ups or spyware.

Now here’s a biography quoted from stangers.us:

Friendships were important to Tyler. Cory Lidle was one of those special people to him. Anyone in Tyler’s circle of friends knew there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for them or with them. Cory would call Tyler in the middle of the night for answers to the questions on his ground school portion of his flight training. Tyler was happy to get up and come to the phone and teach him in the middle of the night. They traveled together from time to time and their wives became fast friends. Tyler, Stephanie and Ashlund had traveled to New York City to vacation together with Cory and his family. Stephanie shares that they had a marvelous time together and Cory saw a lot of New York that he was unable to see during the baseball season. Tyler also had a Pilatus flight to Ogden, Utah the week before where he had dinner and visited with his brothers, sister and grandparents in Utah. It will remain a special time to remember as was the time he spent with friends and family in New York City.

The parting before Stephanie and Ashlund left for the airport was warm and loving. We are blessed that their travel plans were changed. Stephanie and Ashlund were going to be on the cross-country flight that Cory and Tyler were flying. But they changed their minds just before they left California for New York.

Why these extraordinary young men, who were great examples of American success and goodness were called home so early to their Father in Heaven will always be a mystery. We mourn our loss and the tragedy for all involved but will stand together as a family to support Stephanie, Ashlund, and the coming baby.

Tyler loved the heavens and now flies unconstrained by earthly bonds with his good friend. We long to see him on the other side.
